Continuations help in IT9

I'm noticing that some continuations that used to be seamless no longer work and I'm not sure why. Sometimes I can continue to press the expansion key and the sentence keeps going, but other times it just stops. It's almost guaranteed to stop at a comma if the sentence has a comma in it, but sometimes it stops sooner. Is there a way to set it up to make this more reliable?
