Thanks for your post, Carol. You have done the first step which is to define some of the repetitive editing you want to achieve more rapidly.
Now we have to figure out how.
If your cursor stops right after % for example, you want to have Instant Text execute a command entry that highlights % with Ctrl+Shift+Left and then types percent. However, before typing percent, we also need to make sure to add a space so that by expanding a short form like ch-p (changepercent) we will change, for example,
O2 saturation, as interpreted by me, is 99%.
to
O2 saturation, as interpreted by me, is 99 percent.
Having the cursor in the right position when using this command entry is important.
The command entry changing % to percent itself would look like this:
{command}{Ctrl Shift Left}{Space}percent{NoSpacing}
The final {No Spacing} command makes sure you don't get an extra space when expanding.
Now I am sure you can create the command entry that will change cc to mL in the same way.
Only leave out the {Space} command as you have already the space. Look at the following example:
The patient received 45 cc of Mylanta and 10 cc of viscous lidocaine and you see the existing space.
Maybe somebody has already figured out the other commands for 3, 4, and 5? :-)
I have created an SRT commands glossary with some of the most frequently needed commands.
If there is an interest, we can make it available.
PS You didn't tell what exactly are the problems you are having, Carol.
In the beginning it's a lot of trial and error until you get it to work!
