Choosing the best short forms for addresses
It sounds like a paradox, but with an address or names glossary
longer short forms are more efficient. Using the initials is ok as long as the name list is fairly short.
I have two ways to pull up a name or address fast:
- I use lastnamefirstname as the abbreviation. That is what I call a long short form :)
Using marker keys to expand (not the space bar), I then have the choice to type the first 2 letters of the last name and thereafter any of the letters within the last or first name. The "jump-ahead" feature allows me to get any address or name - and I have thousands - with just 3-5 letters.
- Another way I have is to keep certain entries in the Word section so that I have more flexibility in choosing my abbreviations.
If you put DOE, JANE: 76552 and DOE, John: 30455 just as word entries with the short form d you can use the wildcard feature of the Word advisory and type dja for the first and djo for the second. If you remember the number you can add the number. If not, you just add another letter :)
Maybe there are other ways. Any suggestions?
