Instant Text putting phrases with numbers

I am having a problem with Instant Text typing out phrases for example if I type 3 it puts what comes up under shortcuts instead of typing the number out...can you tell me what to change to stop it from doing this...also there are some words it changes that are not in my dictionary... For instance, cauda equina it changes to equina
