When I do it the way you suggest, the underscore does show up! Something has to be different in my settings, and I WILL figure out what. Thank you very much for the reply. I'll work on your way so that I can uncheck smart cut and paste.
Edit (and last one)! I feel like a fool, I swear! But anyway, I'm going to give up for the day but I would like to ask, could the reason I can't do it be as simple as the fact that I'm using the space bar for expansions? Although I do have a phrase marker and tried it with that and the same thing happened. Thanks for all the help.
