Using a keyboard, video, and mouse switch so that you can use one of each of those with two computers set up presumably with different configurations, maybe one for business and one for pleasure, is not what is meant by having computers on a network.

When I wanted to set up my home network, I went to the local library and checked out some books on the subject. I probably started with networking for dummies. There probably are online resources, but I find books to be best when I want to study a subject in depth.

Finding a teen or college-age neighbor to explain things would work, too. Seriously, the kids nowadays seem to be born knowing some of this stuff.
