New Word Ordering - Former Smartype users will like it!

In the coming weeks we will issue a new release of Instant Text that provides an improved treatment of words. The idea is to order the multiple choices in such a way that the words that have the letters earliest appear first.

This change will be of special interest when you start an abbreviation by the first letters of the word as in the example below:
New versionCurrent version

In the new version - on the left - the words that start with pam appear before other entries such as pacemaker. The current version - on the right - lists the same entries, but with no special ordering preference.

This change should be of special interest to former Smartype users who are quite used to start left-to-right with the initial letters of the word. At the same time, this retains the key advantage of Instant Text, which is the ability to "jump ahead" to the letters that make a difference.

Here is another example:
New versionCurrent version

Here the two versions show different entries because there are more matches than advisory lines. All shown entries for the new version start with pec while this is not the case in the current version which starts with pancolectomy.

Altogether, this revision will allow the left-to-right word-completion style of abbreviation while retaining the powerful "subset" approach of Instant Text.

If you want to try this before the actual release - especially if you are a former Smartype user - just send me an email.
