If you open your Importer and click on Smartype file, the dialog box will show you the type of file/extension you (they?) need to browse for. In this case, it's *.___ (three underlines). If they have no idea where on their computers these files are, they can use Windows search feature to pin them down first. Even version 3 of IT appears to deal with SmartType files, so they should be all set.
