IT and Activewords
I have used Activewords for some time. It is clearly not as good as IT for pure text processing. However, it has an extremely powerful scripting application and is very helpful in many ways. For example, type gg F8, and it will immediately bring up Google in a dialogue box, and when you fill in what you want, it then executes the search quickly. It can also be used for filling in passwords quickly. The scripting capability allows you to do repetitive tasks, such as straightening scanned documents in PaperPort. The problem is that using it simultaneously with IT is that you can get duplicate shortcut entries. So it should be used alone when simply using the computer to surf the net or do regular work, or should be shut off for use with IT, so as to not interfere. It has much greater scripting capabilities than IT, and can launch programs, run macros, and automate repetitive tasks. It can make programs like Outlook work extremely quickly. So there is significant value to the program, but it has a pretty steep learning curve for creating scripts. If you're willing to spend some time, it can save you a great deal of time. But use IT for creating your documents. Just my viewpoint. Phil
