There is no direct way currently to disable the Alt+Period or any of the other Alt combinations: 
   Alt -   Hide/Show IT

   Alt =   Add a new abbreviation

   Alt \   Full screen/split screen toggle 

   Alt /   Built-in editor toggle

I must say that in ten years we'd never seen another application using the Alt+Period (what is this application actually?). We may try to provide alternates in a later version. You are lucky they did not preempt the Alt =
