I was toying with this, and if you create a command entry as follows:

{Left}{Left}{Left}:{Left}{Left}{Left}:{End}{Backspace}_

You will get 12:15:45 if you type 121545 mil (what I named my entry, for military time).

This is useful for transcribing dictators who like to be accurate to the second. I have found this useful for my EEGs and nuclear medicine reports. I named it mil, for military time. The underscore is to eliminate that trailing space and can be omitted. I use it because we use templates for these reports.
