I mostly use WP8 and I like the Ages glossary for -year-old entries. y40 = 40-year-old, etc.

There is another way in WP8: you can define yo to be year-old in QuickCorrect and then type 40-yo. It's a bit awkward to type but it works.

(However, you can't define yo to be -year-old and have it work as you can in Word.)
