No contradiction with AAMT BOS
Marie, There is no contradiction (note the facetious colon added) with what the AAMT is saying: Capitalize the word following the colon: if it is normally capitalized, if it follows a heading or subheading, or if the list or series that follows the colon includes multiple complete sentences or thoughts separated by periods. Essentially, they say that you should capitalize if what is enumerated should be capitalized. So sentences are, but most short enumerations are not: He is eating a lot, for example: at breakfast, at lunch, at dinner. My preference goes to an option (in version 5) because those who select it have only themselves to blame. Think of it this way: If you have the option turned on and want lower case, it is quite painful as you have to go back and change the capital into a lower case letter. On the other hand, it is so easy to type a capital for the first letter of the short form.
