From Autocorrect to IT - The IT way
Assume now that you decide to use IT the Instant Text way. You will import the AutoCorrect and use it as your base glossary. Since you have memorized these 400 abbreviations, you may as well continue to use them. You will still use AutoCorrect but mostly for typos like "adn" instead of "and" Now, there will be changes. One change will be the expander key. To ease the transition, you may want to keep the AutoCorrect entries in Word in addition to the IT glossary. If you use the ; you are sure to trigger the expansion from IT when you hit the ; and from AutoCorrect when you hit the space bar. Next you can include IT glossaries into your base. For instance the Medphras5.glo will give you more phrases, the MedWords4.glo will give you 4000 words for which you don't need to use a dedicated short form. The Include feature makes it possible to easily try out different combinations of glossaries. You can also compile glossaries for your doctors or for different specialties and you will see what the continuations are all about. If you are more comfortable with just one expander key you can always type one more letter for the words. If nothing is suggested in the phrase advisory you can use either marker for word expansion. Finally, note that at the beginning you won't "catch" everything the advisories suggest. The more you use a glossary, the more you will catch and the more keystrokes you will save, far more than you do right now. Marianne
