how does Instant Text work when you want an expansion such as "-year-old"

Instant Text has a simpler solution: The Ages glossary has abbreviations for all possible ages combinations. For example:

   y41   41-years-old

If you have a phrase in the expander such as "tp" for "the patient", can you type "Tp" and have the expanded version be "The patient"?

Yes, this is the way it works. In addition, if you use Caps Locks, the expansion is all in capitals.
