Help! Norton upgrade disabled linking to programs

Norton antivirus did an upgrade last night. Immediately afterwards my IT quit working. Loads fine and shows that it is linked to Word, email, etc. but will not expand or show options at all in the glossary. Just won't "engage." It does work within its own little text box, but not in the program. I'm crippled! Any ideas?!?!

Went through Norton Tech Support. They enabled the program through the firewall entirely - still not working. Norton says it can't be their program. AMAZING timing then.
