awaiting delivery....what now?

I am now anxiously awaiting delivery of IT. It will be my first time with expansion software (I'm a new grad and have been working for a grand total of 3 weeks now).

I'm working on a Vista laptop using Word 2007. Aside from shutting off User Account Controls (which I had already done anyway on about day 2 with this machine!) is there anything I should do to prepare my machine (or myself) while I wait and stalk my mail carrier?
