Formatted entries in IT V5 not holding in Meditech

I have just begun using Meditech Magic V.4 (order entry module) for a radiology account. When typing in MSWord and/or in Meditech, my IT formatted entries, i.e., bolded and underlined entries, do not expand with the formatting. Even using my formatted IT entries in MSWord and copying and pasting into Meditech, the formatting does not hold. Unformatted entries in IT expand without a problem in Meditech. Would appreciate any help, as the process for underlining and bolding within Meditech is cumbersome, resulting in having to delete the line to be bolded/underlined and using the function keys within Meditech to bold/underline. Hope this is not as clear as mud!
