Yes, it could.

We could easily modify IT so that Function keys both reset the accumulated characters (the short form) and cancel any outstanding capitalization or spacing. I understand it would be valuable for applications where you jump from field to field using Function keys.

I just wonder if there are other situations with other usages of Function keys where this would not be wanted. For now I don't see any.
