Would you like a better way to type dates? Tired of reaching for the hyphen in hyphenated dates? Want to type all your numbers with letters? Want to save lots of strokes typing vital signs?

We (Mike DeTuri and Jon Knowles) have put together some files that solve the above problems. We're calling them ABBREVIATION MASTER files. The first set is available now as glossaries for Instant Text users:

ABBREVIATION MASTER: YearDates
ABBREVIATION MASTER: Qnumbers and FFractions
ABBREVIATION MASTER: Vitals

We plan to offer the files for other expanders in the coming months. We will also be offering additional files that cover other areas of medical transcription in 1999. In addition, we can customize IT glossaries if you want one in a slightly different form, or want to modify one of your own.

If you're interested in more information, please visit our web page on Jon's site:

These Abbreviation Master files should not be confused with Instant Text "Share glossaries". Share glossaries are available downloadable and free from the Instant Text site. We have contributed one share glossary on Degrees, which should be available there soon. Degrees.glo offers shortcut typing of angles and temperatures. The Abbreviation Master series is being sold at what we hope you will agree is a pretty reasonable cost.

Jean has generously offered to let us discuss the Abbreviation Master series on this board. We will post more about them soon - for example, what shortcuts we are using, our integrated approach to using the keyboard, suggestions for how best to use the individual files, etc.
