Singles as defined in Instant Text

As Cheryl points out, when you talk about singles, these entries are defined as those coming from a Singles glossary shown under Options/Singles/Current Singles glossary. You just type a single letter and get the same expansion whether your current glossary in the Glossary list is number 1, 2, 3, ... Singles usage with single-letter abbreviations is rather limited in number to short words that you type over and over.

The glossaries in the Glossary list have Word sections where the words are listed under their first letter like in a dictionary. This does not mean you can get them with a single letter and we would not call them singles. To get these words you type the first letter and any letter of the word in the order in which they appear in the word (see page 21 of the manual).

You need to type at least 2 letters to get these words. The option to define the length of words you want to have come up is available under Options/Advisories/Minimum number of letters per word in Word Glossary.

With the default option at 6, if you add a word like Cipro it only shows as long as the glossary is not reloaded. When you close and reopen Instant Text, IT will not load the 5 letter words unless you have changed the option above from 6 to 5

I hope this clears up the confusion of the terms used.

Note that you can have a phrase like "cephalic artery" as an entry coming up in the Word advisory by changing the ca appearing in the Add window under In Short to c. It allows you to use all the letters in this string of characters except for the space bar to pull up this entry. This can be useful in some cases when you have to many ca entries.
