I guess you want to type "Number yo" and have the expansion backspace so it will produce x-year-old. The entry for yo should look like this:

{command}{Backspace}-year-old

Just copy this into the Add window of your glossary and name the short form yo

As for the decimals, you could include the Decimals glossary so you wouldn't have to switch.

You can also use the toggle Ctrl 0 to stop automatic spacing.

Another option is to put all the values to 0 under
Options/Automatic spacing

Yet another option, if you are using MSWord, is to use an AutoCorrect entry like ` to be replaced by .
