You need to answer yes to save when you quit Word or

your macros will remain in the template.

If you have not customized the menus (File/Edit/View, etc.), you can reset your menu bar and Macro will return as an option. Go to Tools/Customize and click the Toolbars tab. Scroll down and single-click on the Menu Bar, then click the Reset button.
