Word and WP conflicts

I'm using Word 2000. My new boss has been sending templates that were created in WP (5) I think. I have had nothing problems since, and they seem to be getting worse. Strange things are happening. My reports disappear, I see multiple lines of text and other stuff in my Word screen that shouldn't be there, I've had trouble saving reports (and lost work), I highlight a word to bold it, and my words are moved all over the place or disappear completely or I the whole page will highlight and I can't shut it off without multiple tries. Just one thing after the other.

Are the conflicts that major between these two programs? Also, even though she's now "tweaking" the templates in Word, is it possible the first couple days of trying to work with all her WP templates and reports has corrupted my Word program altogether, and is there a fix? I've spent hours troubleshooting, and as you can imagine, I'm losing money and getting very frustrated.

Not sure how to deal with this. Any information would be appreciated.
