Do you get the same result when you open documents in other folders?

Or does the problem only occur with one specific folder of documents?

Do you have "Allow fast saves" checked in Tools/Options/Save? That feature is well known to corrupt documents.

Have you tried opening these documents with the "Recover text from any file" option in the Open dialog box?
