want to keep the older version. AutoText entries will update to the new Building Blocks. Custom dictionaries are not affected by an uninstall or reinstall and will remain in the custom.dic file. The normal.dot file in 2007 is a new file format named normal.dotm.

Macros are another story. They may or may not update to the new normal.dotm file format. There are several ways to move your macros to the new file. To make sure all of your keyboard shortcuts also move with the macros, and before you do any customizing of the new normal.dotm file, check out your macros and keyboard shortcuts. If they are not there, do a search for the normal.dotm file (make sure you are searching hidden files and folders) and make note of the full folder path. Now search for the old normal.dot file and make sure it is in the same folder as the new normal.dotm. With Word closed, you can delete the new normal.dotm file, then reopen Word so a new normal.dotm file is created based on your old normal.dot and your macros should all be there.
