Keys to press to get the degree sign in Word 2007

When I used Word 2002 (XP) prior to my recent upgrade to Word 2007, I was able to press ALT and the letter I and I could enter the degree sign into my Word document. Now that I am using Word 2007, it seems the only way I can enter the degree sign is by clicking with mouse on the icon in the customized Quick Access toolbar. Does anyone know of a combination of keys to press to get the degree sign in Word 2007? One MT at our company suggested pressing ALT +2 +4 +8 but that makes no sense for me and when I tried to do that, it didn't work anyway.
