Alternate way to start a new paragraph

I am using Word 2007. I have been asked not to use hard breaks and tabs when creating a new paragraph, as I am actually typing an article that is going to be published and this is what the publisher requires of me. I have no idea of an alternate way to start new paragraphs. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.
