Shortcut information to help you get started

Keyboard shortcuts can really help you save time. Using the mouse can be fun with a game, but it is not very efficient for transcription. Whenever you take your hands off the keyboard you lose your rhythm. And certainly it is faster to type a command than reach to click on an icon or search the menus.

To find preprogramed keyboard shortcuts (in WP8):
- from the Main Menu, click on TOOLS
- from the Tools menu, click on SETTINGS
- from the Settings pop-up box, click on CUSTOMIZE
- from the Customize Settings pop-up box, click on the KEYBOARDS tab
- select your program from the AVAILABLE KEYBOARDS
- click on EDIT

On the left side of the pop-up box is CHOSE A SHORTCUT KEY. This will show you what shortcut keys are pre-programmed (default). Make a note of the ones that you think you will use the most.

You can change these shortcuts to customize your keyboard. For example:
- Go down the list on the left to highlight CTRL+M
- On the right side is FEATURES / KEYSTROKES / PROGRAMS / MACROS
- Select the FEATURES tab, then select TOOLS
- Go down the list to highlight MACRO PLAY
- Click on ASSIGN FEATURE TO KEY and click on OKAY
You can now use CTRL+M to open the Play Macro pop-up box.

To add a macro as a shortcut:
- Go down the list on the left to highlight NUM 1 + CTRL
- Select the MACRO tab, then click on ASSIGN MACRO TO KEY
- Select a macro that you use frequently.
- YES to SAVE MACRO WITH FULL PATH and click on OKAY
You can now use CTRL+1 (on the keypad) to run this macro.
