This is a special edition of the FitalyStamp 3 software that applies to the
The package includes four FitalyStamp overlays which you will find safely wrapped in the User's Manual. The overlays come in six different sizes that correspond to the supported forms:
Your package should contain four overlays of the form you ordered.
If you are using the demo version, see the additional installation notes for information on printing demo stamps using the enclosed pdf files.
FitalyStamps are printed in five colors on a polyester film and are overlaminated with a 1-mil polyester to protect the print from scratches. They are undercoated with a removable adhesive, which allows them to be removed without damaging the glass surface of the Palm handheld device. On the other hand, removal of a FitalyStamp must be done very slowly to avoid wrinkles in the overlaminate.
FitalyStamps are delivered on a transparent plastic backing. To install a FitalyStamp, remove it from the backing and place it back half-way on the backing so that part of the adhesive is exposed and your fingers can hold the backing.
Then align the FitalyStamp on the surface of the Palm handheld. Make sure that the top black line is horizontal. Both the Kyocera 7135 and the Samsung SPH-i500 provide an exact fit with the left and right margins of the Graffiti area. |
Finally, apply the FitalyStamp and slowly remove the backing.
When you place the FitalyStamp initially, try to apply it very softly and leave some small part of the backing below one side to simplify removal. Then if there are bubbles, remove that side softly and reapply it progressively, using a finger to apply pressure and avoid bubbles. (It is also possible to apply a drop of some diluted window-cleaning solution as it will evaporate later.)
If you need to remove a FitalyStamp, use a piece of laser printer transparency film to lift a corner. Then remove the rest very slowly.
Before installing the Stamp, it is recommended that you redo the digitizer alignment procedure (in the general preferences) using something very precise like the tip of a wooden toothpick. You may want to note the position of the alignment points on a transparent overlay, as these points will be covered by FitalyStamp once it is installed.
To Install FitalyStamp, run the installer program FitalyStamp3Phone.exe.
The installation creates a FitalyStamp3Phone folder on your desktop computer, with documentation files as well as copies of the files to be installed on your Palm handheld.
The installer will ask you whether the installation is for the Kyocera 7135 or for the Samsung SPH-i500 (or another Palm OS 4 device) and it will let you select files to be installed the next time you perform a Hotsync operation:
FitalySetup3.prc — always installed FitalyStamp3.prc — always installed FitalyKyocera.pdb — always installed X-Master.prc — optional FitalyLetris.prc — optional FitalyLetrisDB.pdb — optional
FitalySetup3.prc — always installed FitalyStamp3.prc — always installed X-Master.prc — optional FitalyLetris.prc — optional FitalyLetrisDB.pdb — optional
Running Version 3 of FitalyStamp on Palm OS4 requires the presence of an Extension Manager such as X-Master, HackMaster, or TealMaster. The installer offers X-Master as an installation option, which you should select if you do not already have an Extension Manager on your Palm handheld.
The installation of FitalyStamp adds FitalyLetris to the FitalyStamp3 folder. FitalyLetris is both a word game and a training tool for fast text-entry with Fitaly or FitalyStamp.
FitalyLetris lets you practice the 400 most frequent English words as they are falling like the pieces of a tetris game. It helps FitalyStamp users develop a visual memory of these most common words on the Fitaly keyboard layout.
If you choose to install FitalyLetris, the optional files FitalyLetris.prc and FitalyLetrisDB.pdb will be installed.
Go to X-Master (or some other Extension Manager) and enable FitalyStamp.
The final step of the installation is to let the Fitaly software recognize the current position of the FitalyStamp on the silkscreen area:
You can now start using FitalyStamp. For example, press the MemoPad button, open a new memo, and start typing on the Fitaly keyboard.
Once FitalyStamp is installed over the Graffiti area, it covers the points that are used when calibrating the digitizer. If you need to reset the digitizer, you can use the following diagrams to locate the position of the calibration points:
Kyocera 7135 |
|
Samsung |
Make sure you disable FitalyStamp before any digitizer recalibration.
The calibration points are shown in red on FitalyStamp (they are not on the printed stamps). The Kyocera 7135 uses two calibration dots, the Samsung SPH-i500 uses three. The blue dot on the Kyocera diagram shows the location of the contrast adjustment point (you need to tap on the keyboard toggle before using it).
To Install FitalyStamp, unzip the zip archive FitalyStamp3Phone.zip.
Then use the Palm Install tool to install the files needed for your Palm handheld.
FitalySetup3.prc — always installed FitalyStamp3.prc — always installed FitalyKyocera.pdb — always installed X-Master.prc — optional FitalyLetris.prc — optional FitalyLetrisDB.pdb — optional
FitalySetup3.prc — always installed FitalyStamp3.prc — always installed X-Master.prc — optional FitalyLetris.prc — optional FitalyLetrisDB.pdb — optional
Finally, after HotSync, enable FitalyStamp and perform the Adjust Position procedure, as in the case of the Windows installation.
If you are installing this version over a previous version of FitalyStamp, you must first uninstall the prior version. (See the next section.)
Note that for upgrading, you may safely overwrite the companion program FitalySetup without losing registration information, Application Bar settings, and your user-defined slides. On the other hand, the List of Most Recently Used applications is reset when you upgrade.
If you used version 2 of FitalyStamp, you can also delete the file FSStatus.prc, which is no longer used in version 3.
To uninstall FitalyStamp, perform the following two steps:
If you are in doubt, another way of making sure that FitalyStamp is disabled is to do a soft reset (the simple reset that is performed with a paper-clip or with a pen on the back of the Palm handheld).
To remove FitalyStamp completely from a Palm handheld, you also need to uninstall FitalySetup.prc, as well as the databases used for the Application Bar and for custom slides: FitalyAppBarDB and FitalyCustomSlidesDB. For the Kyocera 7135, you also need to delete the FitalyKyocera.pdb database.
Read the attached User's Manual for a description of what you can do with FitalyStamp. This is the place where all usage options are described.
Additional information is provided in the following documents:
The use of FitalyStamp is subject to a License Agreement which applies to registered versions as well as to demo versions of the software.
