I got the Pro version, not really knowing the differences, but the "includes" feature seemed very helpful. On experience, it is very helpful. This links the glossaries that you wish to use together, but the glossaries are each still individually unchanged entities, in other words, they don't have to be permanently merged. I really like this feature.
I have been using this program for about 2 weeks now and I am very pleased. It is definitely saving me time.
I transcribe for 2 groups at present: OB-GYN group and an Internal Medicine group. I have a glossary for the OB-GYN group, made from their dictations; a glossary for the Internal Medicine group, done the same way; and a glossary that I made for use with both, which I called "Basic." The "basic" one is a combination of Med Words 4 and Med Phrases 5, which I saved and named "basic" after merging those. Then I went in and got rid of words I know that I will not need, such as metzenbaum scissors, mayo scissors, and that sort of thing. This was very easy to do using Wordpad (see earlier posts here).
Then I linked, using "includes" for the OB-GYN group: their personal glossary, my basic glossary, and the drug glossary. Likewise, I linked, (using the "includes" feature of the Pro version) for the Internal Med group: that personal glossary, my basic glossary, and the drug glossary. This way, since they are "included" and not permanently merged, I can make changes to just the "basic" if I want, and have it then apply to both accounts.
Hope this makes sense. Plus, by having the one "basic" for all my work, I can get very familiar with that. I am doing very well in 2 weeks time and with not that much in the way of set up time. This is a program that will be more and more specific to your needs with the more you personalize it.
The "includes" feature is very worthwhile, and it is in the Pro version, but, to my understanding, is not in the basic version.
I have Microsoft Word and Windows. Somebody correct me if I am wrong here, but it is my impression that Instant Text works for MS Word, but not DOS. You can check the web site and see which programs are compatible.
Hope this is some help. I just figured if I was going to use the program a lot, I would want the Pro version, and glad I did get that.
