The Client Configurator lets you customize how Instant Text interacts with a specific Client Application. It is displayed when you click on the Client Configurator button or by typing the Ctrl . keyboard shortcut.
The Client Configurator shows the settings for the current client application.
While it is open, you can switch to the client application of your choice with your mouse or with Alt Tab and the settings for that client application will then be displayed.
Check
Use Instant Text With This Application
to use
Instant Text
with the
current client application.
If unchecked,
Instant Text
will not interact at all with the
current client application.
By default Instant Text will interact with any client application. You may change that default in the Client Configurator Defaults dialog, that you can open by clicking the Defaults button in the lower right corner.
Check Instant Text Follows Application Automatically if you want to enable Instant Text to automatically dock to your client application window when it gets the focus.
The Dock To Current Window checkbox lets you specify if you want docking or not for the currently active window. For example, in Notepad you want Instant Text to dock to the main window, but not to the File Open or Save dialogs. In practice while working with a given client application window, you can toggle the docking on or off using the Docking Menu or by using the Ctrl /D shortcut, and Instant Text will remember that this is your preferred setting for that window.
Uncheck Instant Text Follows Application Automatically if you want to position Instant Text manually.
The Instant Text alignment enables you to specify how you want to position Instant Text relatively to your client application window.
Note that a top or bottom alignment implies a horizontal stack for the Word, Phrase and Glossary tables while a left or right alignment implies a vertical stack.
The table order lets you define the left to right or top down order of the Word, Phrase and Glossary tables.
The word table visibility lets you indicate if you want the Word Table to be visible or not.
The phrase table visibility lets you indicate if you want the Phrase Table to be visible or not.
The glossary table visibility lets you indicate if you want the Glossary Table to be visible or not.
Note that when the Glossary Table is not visible, the Glossary Drop‑Down List is displayed instead.
In case you are using a top or bottom Instant Text alignment the Word, Phrase and Glossary tables will be displayed horizontally and all have the same number of lines that you can specify here.
In case you are using a left or right Instant Text alignment the Word, Phrase and Glossary tables will be displayed vertically and you can specify the number of lines of the Word Table here.
In case you are using a left or right Instant Text alignment the Word, Phrase and Glossary tables will be displayed vertically and you can specify the number of lines of the Phrase Table here.
In case you are using a left or right Instant Text alignment the Word, Phrase and Glossary tables will be displayed vertically and you can specify the number of lines of the Glossary Table here.
Checking the Suspend Linking checkbox, suspends linking for the current client application. In practice you will toggle the linking on or off to achieve the same result.
Checking the Disable Capitalization For Current Focus checkbox disables the capitalization for the current client focus window. In practice you will toggle the capitalization on or off to achieve the same result.
Checking the Disable Spacing For Current Focus checkbox disables the spacing for the current client focus window. In practice you will toggle the spacing on or off to achieve the same result.
The Clipboard Threshold defines the threshold above which expansions are produced using the clipboard.
The Throttle enables you to reduce the speed at which Instant Text sends chararacters. This can be very useful for Client Applications which can't cope with the speed at which Instant Text expands.
