Command Stop & Resume Stop

When Instant Text produces an expansion the text and the interspersed commands are produced, one after the other, in the order in which they appear.

A Stop command stops the expansion flow. What does "stop the expansion flow" mean?

It means that the remainder of the expansion, i.e. the expansion fragment that follows the Stop command is put on hold. In the following expansion, the remainder is displayed surrounded with a red border:

was born in {Stop}and aged {Stop}at the time of the events

Once the expansion has been stopped, the remainder can only be expanded using the Resume command. You are in control of what happens next. You may resume the interrupted expansion whenever you decide to do so: in the meantime you may type and even expand other entries. You may also decide to never expand the remainder and simply forget about it.

Example

When expanding the following expansion:

was born in {Stop}and aged {Stop}at the time of the events
  1. Instant Text produces "was born in " and the expansion stops at that point.
  2. You type "Boston " and then press your Resume Hotkey to resume the expansion.
  3. Instant Text produces "and aged " and the expansion stops at that point.
  4. You type "28 " and then press your Resume Hotkey to resume the expansion.
  5. Instant Text produces "at the time of the events".

At that point you have used the Stop and Resume commands to produce:

was born in Boston and aged 28 at the time of the events
