of the newly compiled glossary.

Phrases:

The number of phrases in the Phrase Section
of the newly compiled glossary.

Phrase Groups:

The number of Phrase Groups in the Phrase Section
of the newly compiled glossary.

Average:

The average number of phrases per Phrase Group.

Notes on Phrase Groups.

There are 676 possible combinations of two letters (26x26) and so at most 676 Phrase Groups. In practice, two-letter combinations such as yq or xx are rare. So the number of Phrase Groups is usually less than 400.

Average is equal to the number of phrases divided by the number of groups. It is a good indication of the number of phrases likely to appear in the Phrase Advisory after typing two letters. To get a smaller number of phrases, use a higher value for the Minimum word frequency.

Example: Average is 4.3 with 1043 phrases split into 241 groups.
