Order of Entries and the Space Bar

When the space bar is used for phrase expansion Instant Text automatically sorts glossary entries so that entries with the shortest short codes appear first.

Below is an example that illustrates what happens. Assume a glossary with the following entries in the phrase section:

tpt the patient tolerated
tpttpw the patient tolerated the procedure well
tpttp the patient tolerated the procedure

When the space bar is not used, the entries are listed in this order. So, after entering tpttp, the Phrase Advisory appear as shown below with the first line highlighted:

tpttpw the patient tolerated the procedure well
tpttp the patient tolerated the procedure

Without sorting, the space bar would expand the first phrase and this would not be desirable. To avoid this, Instant Text automatically sorts phrases with short codes first when the space bar is used for phrase expansion:

tpt the patient tolerated
tpttp the patient tolerated the procedure
tpttpw the patient tolerated the procedure well

Now, after entering tpttp, the first phrase is highlighted as intended:

tpttp the patient tolerated the procedure
tpttpw the patient tolerated the procedure well

Note:

Sorting by shortest codes first happens when glossaries are opened. If you change expansion keys to expand with the space bar, the correct sorting will happen the next time you start Instant Text. You can also reopen your glossary to apply the new order.
