Automatic Spacing and Capitalization

The Automatic Spacing and Capitalization dialog lets you specify whether automatic spacing and automatic capitalization should be used by Instant Text.

Automatic Spacing

Check the checkbox for automatic spacing if you want Instant Text to insert spaces after punctuation marks. If automatic spacing is checked, you can specify 0, 1, or 2 spaces after each punctuation mark:

Dot (period)

default: 2

Comma

default: 1

Colon

default: 1

Semi-colon

default: 1

Question mark

default: 2

Exclamation mark

default: 2

To turn off automatic spacing for a given mark, set a 0 value.

Optimize Autospaces:

If the checkbox Optimize Autospaces is checked, Instant Text absorbs any tentative space if you type a space immediately after it.

For example, when you type a comma, Instant Text adds a tentative space after the comma and there is no need to type a space. But if you type one nevertheless, out of habit, this option makes sure that you only get one space after the comma.

Automatic Capitalization

Check the checkbox for automatic capitalization if you want Instant Text to capitalize after a period, a question mark, and an exclamation mark.

Check the corresponding checkbox, to have automatic capitalization also apply after a carriage return, a tab and a colon.
