Marsha, are you doing your main editing in Word?

What ASR software are you using? And where do you do your cleanup? I mainly use Descript, and I do some initial cleanup in Word and then the main proofing to audio in WordPerfect, which is what I use for 100% of my transcripts these days.

I use a combination of shortcut options for the cleanup, and I have some really nifty Word macros to deal with most of the number formatting issues. I do a "pre-cleanup" in Word for a lot (but not all) of the predictable edits so that the proofing to audio goes smoother once I get it over to WordPerfect. I don't have all the same macros there because WordPerfect is sorely lacking in its wildcard search and "multiple cleanups at once" feature, which Word does a great job with.

I have trialed some of the legal-specific ASR platforms years ago for a very short time, but I don't recall if you can export them to Word and then easily reimport them back into those platforms for final editing without having any issues. So if you are using one of those (e.g., VoiceScript, AutoScript, MAXScribe), I'm not sure if my solution will work. So just let me know, and we can go from there.
