You need to put the pick commands outside the rich text

and maybe split your rich text in several pieces:

{PasteRichText}formatted text before picking gender{/PasteRichText}
{Pick}gender{/Pick}
{PasteRichText}formatted text after picking gender{/PasteRichText}

And keep in mind that the font of the last character of your PasteRichText command dictates the format of the subsequent characters produced by your Pick command. You can play with it.
