So if I'm interpreting you correctly, it's not that you want IT to DO something specifically, per se, with Pedable. You just want it to not interfere (as it appears it MAY be doing) when you use Pedable, right?

Since Pedable uses hotkeys to control the foot pedal, it's not a simple "plug 'n' play" process. You have to go through a sort of multi-step pondering process to determine which hotkeys you want to perform which actions.

1. Basically, as you probably already know, assuming you have a three-foot pedal (left, middle, right), you have to pick a minimum of three hotkeys to perform rewind, play/pause, and fast-forward.

2. Hotkeys are part of a finite area of keyboard real estate - meaning there's a high likelihood any hotkey combination you choose is already going to be used by another program you'll be using at the same time - Word, WordPerfect, and IT for starters.

So once you pick your hotkeys, you have to determine if they are already being used by any of those programs or other programs you are using. That means, if you don't already know in your head, checking IT's Hotkeys glossary as well as doing a search in your main (and any Includes) glossaries for that command to see if it is in use.

I suspect it's *more* likely that your hotkey conflicts are buried within your actual apps (e.g., Word or WordPerfect) rather than strictly IT, though it's also possible IT is involved as well.

So what you need to do is come up with three (minimum) shortcuts for rewind, pause/play, and fast-forward that either (1) don't conflict with other existing keyboard shortcuts or (2) reassign the existing keyboard shortcuts to something else.

I said "minimum" of three because Pedable gives you the option of extending it to six shortcut options if you also use press the Shift key when you press the pedal. But you can optionally ignore that if you don't plan to ever do that.

It's possible that you are using Pedable's default hotkeys. So for starters, you need to investigate what, if anything, those hotkeys are designed to do if Pedable is not loaded. Then decide to (1) change the Pedable hotkey or (2) change the app hotkey.

If you use multiple digital media apps with Pedable, I would also suggest picking a hotkey combination that works with all the apps and just remember that those keys are dedicated to Pedable functions and try to remember not to assign them to other functions, if that makes sense.

Another possibility is that the digital media app itself has built-in text expander or time stamp functions, and the hotkeys in the Pedable app are triggering those functions rather than actual playback behavior, if that makes sense.

I hope this helps with the troubleshooting. If you need more help or if you need more clarity on something I've said, let us know. Good luck!

Karen :)
