Line count in IT versus MP Count

I have noticed a big difference in my line counts when I compare IT's count to MP Count's free download. I was using the MP Count program before I upgraded to IT V Pro. Before that I was using DocuCount 97.

I have switched a couple of my accounts to the IT count method, but for my largest account the difference is so big ($170 this month) that I have been afraid to switch them. I must be cheating myself by not using IT's count, but I'm worried they will think I'm cheating them if I switch. Has anyone compared the two counting programs to figure out why there is such a difference? One thing I have figured out, MP Count is very close to the character count that Word reports.
