I never glance at both advisories at the same time

Jon,
One advantage to having as many entries as possible in one visual advisory or the other (the Phrases or Word advisory) is to keep things as simple as possible. It is less taxing as we work to glance down at one column, as needed, rather than two.
I never glance at both advisories at the same time as I am either looking for a word advisory entry OR a phrase advisory entry. I have some words in the phrase advisory and of course I know those by heart. I have a lot of two word phrases in the Word advisory and I know to glance for those kind of entries at the Word advisory.
It is true that when there are no entries in the Phrases advisory, then the expansion key for Phrases will trigger whatever is showing in the Words advisory, so in those instances one expansion key will do the job.

I agree it is nice to be able to use the same marker all the time. I seldom use the Word marker. Most of the times I type 1 or 2 more letters to be able to use the semi-colon. I like to cut short anything I don't have to type out, but I know that the great savings are not so much with words, so 1 or 2 more letters is not that big a deal :)

But you don't want to have to wait to see if the Phrases advisory is clear before triggering any given word in the Word advisory,

What about your peripheral vision? I seem to realize very quickly when I can hit the semi-colon :)

I guess it comes down to what you are comfortable with: we are fortunate to use our brains and eyes in a million different ways :)

Marianne
