When I'm typing something up, my defaults with the new Word 2007 were originally at 1.5 line spacing. I changed that to single spacing and made it my default. The incorrect document I picked up today from the doctor's office has the same 1.5 line spacing and formatting as the original document I pulled up, made corrections to, saved, and forwarded via iBackup. When received, their copy of the document had lots of blank lines *within* the document, thus making their copy 18 pages and mine 11 pages. It didn't seem to have my "saves" on it as far as formatting. To me, that doesn't seem like it's the printer driver? But, you're the expert, and I willingly defer to your expertise! :)
Until this past weekend, I didn't have the printer installed to my new computer, prior to sending this document over to them. So, I have no idea what Word 2007 was picking up as far as printer driver. Today, when I re-sent the document and they checked it, it's the same exact thing (incorrect), even with my old printer re-installed.
They're using Word 97 on their end. I'm thinking they're due for an upgrade too...another can of worms! :)
Do you suppose that I could just download from Microsoft a Word Viewer and they will be able to view and print these documents normally? Or will they need the whole shebang, a new Word 2007 installed? I've got my default set to save documents in the Word 97-2003 format, which I thought would help them be able to retrieve documents. Or, maybe I can then just use the regular Word 2007 instead? Whichever way I go, I do know that I need to get this thing up and running soon as they are getting short on patience...
And, if you're up for a challenge, here's another question:
When I prepare a document with test scores within like this in Word 2007,
Verbal I.Q. (tab) (tab) 78
Performance I.Q. (tab) (tab) 70
Full Scale I.Q. (tab) (tab) 76
The numeric columns align properly when I click on Draft View. But, I have to rearrange the data in Print View in order that the numbers will align before printing.
I noticed when I pulled up a document tonight in iBackup and used the new online Office Viewer, the numbers again were not aligned, even after I used the Print View. I'm wondering what kind of work product I'm turning in...YIKES!!
It's confusing to me because I've always thought what I typed was actually there, and on the page I've typed and placed it upon. Am I understanding correctly that with this new Word 2007, it somehow rearranges itself before printing it on a different computer?
If it is the printer driver, how do I go about getting the same driver that they have? We don't have the same kinds of printers, nor did we used to before this recent upgrade to Word 2007.
Please help if you can...
