Single File Compilation

The Single File Compilation menu item of the Glossary Menu lets you compile a glossary from text contained in a single file.

Three steps to compile a glossary for a single file:

1.

Select the text file for which you want to compile a glossary.
This selection uses a Select a Source File dialog.

Once you have selected the file, choose the Open button.
The Source Text Format and the size of the file will then be displayed.
If it is not one of the supported word processors, it will appear as Not recognized. You can then either close the compilation dialog or select another text file. Another possibility is to use the unsupported word processor to save the document as a text file, which you can then resubmit to glossary compilation.

Note that the Extract Text button will be grayed if the Source Text Format is Ansi Text. This will indicate that no text extraction is needed.

The Compilation button is initially grayed unless the Source Text Format is Ansi Text. It is ungrayed after Text extraction.

2.

What you do next depends on the Source Text Format:

If the Source Text Format is Ansi Text, click the Compilation button to proceed directly to step 3.

If the Source Text Format is not Ansi Text, the equivalent Ansi Text must first be extracted. To perform this extraction, click on the Extract Text button.

After text extraction, a file containing the equivalent Ansi Text is stored into the InstText\Temp folder. This new file has the same name as the source file with a .txt extension. For example, if the source file is domain.docx, the new file is stored as domain.txt.

Click the Compilation button to proceed to step 3.
