Interesting ... and puzzling. I also forgot to mention in my previous response that there are certainly many instances where it's desirable to use shortcuts (e.g., Ctrl Hyphen in your case) to get a particular character, but it's not always necessary to do that within an IT entry, even if it IS necessary for us to do it manually within our program, as long as it is a legit ASCII character.

For example, in order to get an en dash or em dash in Word or WordPerfect, we absolutely have to generate it via a keyboard shortcut or the long way with the Insert Symbols option in Word and/or the Ctrl W option in WordPerfect. My shortcuts are en dash and em dash (I save Ctrl Hyphen and Ctrl Plus Sign for the default universal (anywhere in Windows) View ZoomIn/Out options). But if I want an expansion to include an en dash or em dash, I can just use those actual characters in the expansion, and it will work in any app I'm using it in. And likewise, if I want to use the keyboard shortcut for a character, I can do that as well, with the limitation that the character will only expand correctly in an app that recognizes the shortcut (e.g., {Ctrl -} would not expand to anything in Notepad).

All that to say that your should work (assuming that's an actual en dash you have there in the "10–12" text. I'm not sure why it's expanding to the hieroglyphics.

Lastly, did you close out of IT before opening the glossary in Notepad, and save the Notepad file after copying the Word F/R changes back into it, before opening IT again? That's a crucial step. Also, it's easy to forget that the Notepad file is open after saving it, and that can throw things off as well, if you continue to make changes to entries. Additionally, and unfortunately (IMO), Notepad allows you to have many versions of the same file open at the same time. It takes a bit of work to commit it to muscle memory, but I have made a militant habit of checking my taskbar to make sure I have NO glossaries open before opening IT. It's an easy thing to forget, especially if you have a lot of windows open and the Notepad files get buried in the process.

I'm so sorry you're having issues! F/R is one of my favorite things to do in IT because it's so quick and easy when you want to make a ton of the same changes. We will find your mischievous gremlin, come hell or high water!
