IT can do what PRD does and more...
All of these can be done in Instant Text, most of the time in the same way: PRD+ (and Shortcut) allow special characters like Pause and backspace. For Pause, see Marianne's article: How to do the equivalent of Pause. For commands such as backspace, see Commands in Glossary Entries. When I type a short form I know exactly what I will be getting and I do not have to look down to search for possibilities. You can hide Advisories in Instant Text if you so wish: just do Ctrl+\ On the other hand, most users appreciate that it helps them using thousands of additional entries beyond the ones they have memorized. I like their delimeters (or markers) as it seems to be more in line with natural typing, e.g., space bar after a word. punctuation mark, or short form. All of the PRD delimiters can be used in Instant Text. Bear in mind however that Windows assigns special meanings to Enter and Tab that often make them cumbersome to use for expansions. Instant Text gives you that choice. I like the programmable skip key which prevents an short form from expanding and be taken as is. You can use Escape or Shift+Space for this... Of course, as Instant Text comes more than 10 years after PRD, it does also much more. For example it compiles glossaries and offers precious continuations... Last but not least, the Importer for Instant Text will automatically recover your PRD files and convert them to Instant Text Glossaries: Note on the Importer. Jean Ichbiah
