Other than assigning words at least a two-letter shortcut, is there a way to make the spacebar expand both?
If you want to expand words with the spacebar, they need to have a dedicated short form.
To make it similar to Smartype's word completion feature, you can edit your converted Smartype glossary. The steps to do this:
1. Remove the frequencies with the Workshop and save the glossary under a slightly different name.
2. Open this glossary in UltraEdit
3. Use the column mode
4. Copy the Word section of your glossary into the Phrase section.
5. Highlight just the second column of words
6. Copy and paste it into the first column to overwrite the single letters.
So the short form for the words will be the words themselves. They are like dedicated short forms, more than one letter long. You would just type along, the words will come up in the Phrase advisory and you can expand them with the spacebar.
Remember, even though the short form is the whole word, it is not necessary to type the whole word. You will see your word come as soon as you type a few letters, and you still can jump ahead within the short form after having typed the first 2 letters. It gives you all the advantages of the word completion and the IT jump-ahead feature plus the possibility to expand with the spacebar :-)
If you need help with the editing, you can always email me your glossary and I will be happy to do it for you.
