If I open these templates directly in Word it is still slow but not as slow.

Yes, I have Norton disabled for Office. I even completely removed Norton this weekend and no change at all so I reinstalled it.

The version of Microsoft Office that I have is Professional Edition 2003. It is the Academic Edition. Could this have anything to do with this?

Also, shouldn't 1 GB of RAM be sufficient? I would get more if I knew it would help with the problem.

Until I find a solution, I have decided to use my "free time" while waiting for it to open to tidy up my desk! LOL
