You might try putting those macros in a separate template

(.dot file) instead and add that to your startup folder so they are always available. You can easily transfer them via the Organizer. The normal.dot can get really bogged down -- what is the size of the file? You may also have some rogue code in one of your macros that is causing the slow-down.
