Moving Glossary Entries

You can use the Move button in the Glossary Viewer to rearrange the order of Phrase Entries to some extent. Following limitations are implied by your Advisory Sort Options defined in the Advisory Options Dialog:

In this case, you can only rearrange the order of entries
that have the exact same Short form.

In this case, you can rearrange the order of entries
with Short forms of same length inside a two-letter phrase group.

In this case, you can only rearrange the order of entries
that have the exact same Short form.

In this case, you can rearrange the order of any entry
inside a two-letter phrase group.

For example, you may have five phrase entries with the Short form tn and the Phrase Advisory looks as follows after typing these two letters:

If you expand the next more often than you expand tenderness noted, it would make sense for the next to be the first entry. This can be achieved by moving entries.

To move these entries, open the Glossary Viewer and highlight any entry of the two-letter phrase group. An easy way to do both at the same time is to type the Shift+Alt+= keyboard shortcut when you see the entry in the Phrase Advisory, or to right-click on the entry in the advisory. Once the Glossary Viewer is open and the entry is highlighted, press the Move button of the Glossary Viewer (or type Alt+M) to open the Move Glossary Phrases dialog:

You can select the current line with the mouse or with direction keys. Five buttons can be used to move the current line Up or Down, to the Top or the Bottom, or to Delete it. This allows you to set the order in which you want phrases to appear.

For example, we can click on the line containing the next, and then on the Top button to move it to the top. When you have finished ordering the phrases the way you like, press the OK button to close the Move dialog and record the new order.

Note:    You can also use the Move button to rearrange the order of entries in the Singles Glossary.
