The Advisories menu item of the Options Menu opens the Options Advisories page that lets you specify the number of advisory lines, the minimum number of letters per word retained in glossaries and needed for the Word Advisory, and the order of entries in the Phrase Advisory.
In Horizontal advisory layout (see Screen Layout Options) you can specify the number of lines for the advisories. Both advisories and the Glossary List have the same number of lines in this mode.
The number of lines for advisories must be between 1 and 20.
In Vertical advisory layout (see Screen Layout Options) you can specify the number of lines for the Word Advisory and - separately - for the Phrase Advisory and the Glossary List. The number of lines must be between 1 and 20.
You can specify the minimum number of letters in the Word Glossary and in the Word Advisory. They are used as follows:
In Word Glossary:
This sets the minimum number of letters for words retained in the Word Section of a glossary.
This minimum number is used when opening a glossary. This means that if you want the new minimum value to apply to a glossary that is already active, you need to reopen the glossary.
This number must be between 2 and 12.
In Word Advisory:
This sets the minimum number of letters which you need to type before possible choices appear in the Word Advisory. By default, this value is 2, which means that possible choices from the Current Glossary are displayed as soon as you have typed 2 letters.
This number must be between 2 and 6.
Sort by short-code length:
Check this checkbox if you want Phrases to be sorted by short code length in the Phrase Advisory. If you select this option, all phrases whose short codes have 2 letters appear before those with 3 letters, those with 3 letters before those with 4, and so on - The resulting order is the same as the order adopted when expander keys are used.
Note that sorting by short code length is used by Instant Text if you select one or more Phrase Expanders in the Marker Selection Options Dialog and this checkbox appears then checked and disabled.
Sort by short-code alphabetically:
Check this checkbox if you want Phrases to be sorted by short
code alphabetically in the Phrase
Advisory.
When combined with sorting
by short code length, the
alphabetical sorting applies only inside phrases with short codes of
same length (abx
will still be be before abaa,
because it is shorter).
